From 1 July 2014 people entering permanent aged care may be required to pay an accommodation payment, in addition to the basic daily care fees and means tested care fee (if applicable).
Your personal financial situation will determine the level of accommodation payment you may need to pay. People with limited assets and income may have their accommodation payment fully or partially subsidised by the Government. An asset and income assessment form should be completed and sent to Centrelink or the Department of Veteran Affairs before entering permanent care to ensure the correct accommodation payment is determined for you by the aged care home.
The accommodation payments (if applicable to you) are payable as either Refundable Accommodation Deposits (RAD) or Daily Accommodation Payments (DAP) or a combination of both. Accommodation payments are capped at the maximum RAD or DAP equivalent shown on our website, see below, or advertised on the MyAgedCare website.
Refundable Accommodation Deposits (RAD) are made as a lump sum of the negotiated accommodation price, whilst Daily Accommodation Payments are charged as daily payments and are billed in advance each month. If payment is made by a RAD then the full accommodation deposit will be returned when you leave our home, less any allowed charges that are outstanding at this time. If you decide to make your accommodation payment by way of a combination of both a RAD and DAP and your DAP payments are not being met then for any outstanding DAP’s may be taken from the held lump sum amount (RAD). It should be noted that by doing so it will increase the level of DAP payments by the reduced RAD amount held to ensure equivalence to the original accommodation payment price agreed upon at entry.
It is important to note that these prices have been derived to represent the maximum charges applicable for our accommodation, all prices are negotiable to meet your personal financial situation. We are dedicated to providing accommodation to all people requiring clinical care and support with daily living within an aged care home environment, regardless of their financial position. There are strong protections in place to ensure that no-one is denied entry to aged care homes, therefore the level of accommodation payment that you are asked to pay, if anything at all, will be based on your personal circumstances.
The current maximum accommodation payments and accommodation types for our Strathdale Centre are;

Key Features Statement
Strathdale Centre is located in a leafy street close to all of the shopping and transit services of the Strathfield municipality. It is a major train station connecting most country link train lines along the Australian eastern coastline.
The home was originally built in the early 1970’s with an extension built in 1999 to provide for new lounge, dining and activity common areas for our residents to enjoy, overlooking our beautiful front garden and gazebo. In 2011 we underwent another major refurbishment to our ground floor resident accommodation creating twenty single rooms with private ensuite and a double room with its own ensuite, suitable for a couple.
On our ground floor we have recently refurbished lounge and dining areas designed with beautiful contemporary furnishings. There is a HD large screen TV with Foxtel, piano, entertainment deck overlooking our gardens, air conditioning, two internal atrium areas used for activities and relaxation with some rooms opening into this space. There is a resident communal kitchenette for tea and coffee making facilities, a communal resident laundry for those that like to do their own washing and a variety of sitting rooms where residents, relatives and friends can enjoy some quiet time together. The ground floor accommodates our own ‘Beauty Spot’ which is operated by a local hairdresser during the week and provides hairdressing services to all residents of our centre for a nominal charge.
Our first and second floors have recently refurbished lounge and dining room furnishings designed in contemporary fabrics and styles. These common rooms overlook our front garden and include pianos, air conditioning, large screen HD TV with Foxtel and play host to various activities throughout the week. Each floor has a variety of sittings rooms where residents, relatives and friends can get together to enjoy some time together. These areas have been tastefully decorated to provide a sense of peace and relaxation. There are also a number of communal bathrooms on these floors that are in very good condition and provide bathroom facilities for those rooms without a private or shared ensuite.
There are also a variety of activities held during the week for our residents to get involved in such as our ‘Fit as a Fiddle’ exercise program, art therapy, bingo, table and floor games, trivia, music therapy, sing-a-longs, library visits, movies, arts & crafts and many more. We also hold communion services and other church groups throughout the week. We hold a Russian morning tea on a regular basis for our cluster group of Russian residents. We also have a strong presence of people from Chinese and Italian backgrounds in our Strathdale Centre. Additionally we also have in-house concerts plus a variety of interesting & community based bus outings throughout the week and weekly visits to Burwood RSL club.
All beds have a nurse call pendant for 24/7 nursing care and each room has the ability to have a private phone installed for a minimal cost. Phones are supplied by us and an external number will be provided once this has been established.
Newspapers are delivered to the home daily for our residents use in our common areas, or you can have your own papers or magazines delivered as often as you like for a nominal charge.
We encourage residents to bring in small items of furnishings and pictures to remind them of home, should they so wish.
Rooms in this class are located on our ground floor and provide for single accommodation with private ensuite. All rooms have their own air conditioner, mounted HD LED TV with Foxtel. All rooms have been designed to a high quality standard and have new electric beds, bedside locker, over-bed tray, wardrobes, and high back chairs in a contemporary design. Most rooms either have their own balcony or direct access to our internal atrium areas with generous modern ensuites in each room.
