The holiday season is a time to celebrate with the people we care about most. Sharing good times with our loved ones over the holidays can create priceless memories.
This makes it the perfect opportunity to pay them a visit and participate in some fun activities to boost their holiday spirit.
eHow has provided some suggestions to help you organise fun holiday activities for your loved one.
1. Host a luncheon/party
Organise a Christmas themed party for your loved one. Make sure to play music, cook festive meals and encourage conversation about their favourite holiday memories or gifts. Be sure to have lots of board games and cards on hand for entertainment. Go that extra mile by asking carolers to perform.
Who doesn’t enjoy a good game of bingo? Make this a holiday activity by having themed prizes such as candy canes or tree ornaments, wrapping them up like presents. Have the bingo caller dress up as Santa and hand out the presents.
3. Drive to see the decorations
Every year normal suburbs get transformed by the spirit of the holidays. Why not look up which close by homes are recognised for their decorations. Take your loved one on a drive by tour of these homes to admire their lights and encourage some Christmas cheer. You can even get out of the car and take some pictures together.
4. Encourage crafts
Host craft sessions for your loved one and their friends. Split them into groups, with each group being in charge of decorating a different part of the senior centre. Activity groups can be drawing, painting or making ornaments. Rotate the activities throughout the week.
5. Bake a ginger bread house
Baking together is a great way to enjoy some quality time and food. Set aside an afternoon to bake and decorate a gingerbread house. This is the perfect activity to involve the kids in too. By the end of the afternoon you can reward yourselves on a job well done by having a bite.
