Spring has sprung and what better time to pull out your gloves, dust off your shears and do some gardening.
With the weather starting to warm up it’s a good idea to remove the dead trees, leaves and weeds from your garden and start planting veggies, flowers or herbs.
Here are some great Spring gardening tips to help you kick-start your Spring garden.
- Prepare your soil and flower beds and start planting seeds at the beginning of spring.
- Rotate your crops by planting your flowers or veggies in a different spot to last year. This will help to prevent the invasion of pests.
- To prevent weeds add mulch in your flower beds and around your plants.
- Once your seeds begin to sprout you need to protect them from snails, aphids, caterpillars and other pests. If the pests are large enough you can remove them by hand.
- If pests are destroying your plants ask your local nursery for a suitable pesticide for your garden.
- Prune any early flowering plants such as hibiscus to ensure they remain healthy.
- Keep your lawn health by watering it regularly and adding fertiliser if necessary.
By preparing your garden now you can enjoy a healthy crop of flowers and veggies all throughout spring.
