During spring many people suffer from allergies due to the increase of pollen in the air.
Hay fever is a common allergy in spring but it can also occur at any time throughout the year. Hay fever is caused by grass pollen, dust mites, mould and animal fur or hair.
Here are some of the following symptoms of hay fever.
- Sneezing
- Runny nose
- Itchy ears, nose and throat
- Red itchy eyes
- Headaches
Here are some tips on how to reduce hay fever symptoms:
- Stay indoors when it’s windy and just after thunderstorms to reduce your exposure to pollen.
- Avoid using plants in your garden that release their seeds into the air. Instead use plants that are pollinated by birds or insects.
- Make sure to dust, vacuum and wash your sheets regularly to reduce your exposure to pollen.
If you suffer from hay fever speak to your doctor or pharmacist about the appropriate medications or solutions to reduce your symptoms.
