Update 19th May 2021
Dear Residents, Family and Friends,
As we enter the colder months all of us are focused on protecting the most vulnerable in our community. Last year simple measures such as social distancing, frequent handwashing and wearing masks were instrumental in stopping not only the transmission of COVID but that of influenza as well.
Visitor Restrictions – Influenza Vaccine 2021
To help mitigate the risk of this illness the New South Wales Government has released new advice for Residential Aged Care. In accordance with the advice from the Chief Health Officer, from 1 June to 30 September 2021, ALL visitors and staff entering a residential aged care facility should be required to provide evidence that they received a dose of the 2021 influenza vaccination.
Any exemptions for visitors will need to be supported by a medical certificate and should be discussed with the Facility Services Manager prior to 1st June.
COVID-19 Vaccine – Residents
Residents across all four Columbia facilities who provided consent have now received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Staff are preparing to welcome back the vaccination teams for the second dose from late May and by early June we expect to be fully done.
COVID-19 Vaccine – Staff, Family & Friends
A number of COVID vaccine clinics have been set up throughout Sydney and greater NSW for aged care staff and the general public. We are encouraging everyone to get vaccinated to help protect Residents, staff and the general community. Use the COVID-19 vaccine eligibility checker to find out when you can receive a COVID-19 vaccine HERE.
From 17 May 2021 people 50 years and over can receive the AstraZeneca vaccine at a participating general practice. If you would like to discuss anything regarding the COVID-19 vaccine we encourage you to speak with your GP or independent health professional.
Restrictions for the Greater Sydney area and residential aged care have been relaxed. As of today masks are no longer required by visitors or staff in residential. We thank you for your ongoing support as we partner with you in the ongoing care of your loved one.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
Stay safe Tiffany
