Update 5 February 2021
Dear Residents, Family and Friends,
For the 19th day in a row NSW Health has recorded NO new locally acquired cases of COVID-19. The locations of interest (website) that we all should review prior to visiting any facility now only lists locations for New Zealand, Western Australia and Victoria.
I wanted to take this opportunity to clarify Visitor Access and Resident Outings across all Columbia facilities.
Residents in the Greater Sydney Area (Acacia, Strathdale and Willowood Centres) can have a maximum of two visitors each day and may have different visitors each day. Residents in rural NSW (Oberon Village) have no restrictions on the number of visitors they can have each day or at any one time.
All visitors must wear a surgical mask whilst in the facility and complete the COVID-19 protocols before entering the facility.
For those facilities in the Greater Sydney Area (Acacia, Strathdale and Willowood Centres) residents
can attend outings such as medical appointments, visit locations in the community such as shops and cafes.
Residents leaving the facility still need to comply with the following:-
- social distancing at all times.
- frequent washing of hands.
- wear a mask for the duration of their outing.
In accordance with our normal protocols Residents must advise the Registered Nurse In Charge that they are leaving and sign out. On return Residents must sign back in and inform the Registered Nurse when they are back in the facility where the RN will take and record the temperature of the Resident.
Please read the latest advice from NSW Health regarding the above.
The Australian Government is committed to providing all Australians with access to safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines, to those who wish to vaccinate against COVID-19. Access to vaccines during the early period of the rollout will be made available to highest priority groups.
Linked here in PDF is information developed for Residents, family and friends in aged care. Please take the time to read this and if you have any questions feel free to discuss with your Facility Services Manager.
For now we are thankful for 19 straight days of no local transmission and the opportunity to visit our loved ones every day. Please continue to wear a mask, wash your hands regularly and socially distance. These small changes to our daily behaviour has meant all the difference.
